Summary

Addition: An Unconventional Love Story is about a couple, Ben and Logan, who become a little bored with their sex life. They decide to experiment and end up inviting Daren, a guy they find at the club, back to their place for a threesome. From there, the relationship between these three men go to a place none of them expect. Addition... is a rom-com where boy and boy meet boy.



Background

I wrote Addition: An Unconventional Love Story primarily because I needed something to direct. I didn’t want this to become a "gay play." I'm very interested in the "post-gay" movement. Too many stories involving LGBTQ characters are about the characters' sexualities or the issues that arise directly because of the characters' sexualities. I wanted to write something that had gay characters but their sexuality wasn’t the be-all, end-all of their existence. I just tried to tell a story that could make me laugh and expand my world view to be a little more inclusive, and if the play did that for others, it served its purpose. Under the banner of How Far? Productions I also directed and produced the premiere production of Addition: An Unconventional Love Story to sold-out houses and positive reviews.
